Biography

James Freeman, MD, MPH, MS, is a cardiologist who specializes in treating complex heart arrhythmias. He is known for his expertise in helping to determine if patients would benefit from a pacemaker or other type of implantable device.

Dr. Freeman is a noted researcher, particularly in the field of implantable cardiac devices. “I conduct research on the comparative effectiveness, cost-effectiveness and clinical outcomes associated with different treatments for cardiovascular diseases,” he says. Some of this research has focused on an implantable device called the Watchman, which is being studied for its potential to prevent blood clots in patients with irregular heartbeats, and to eliminate the need for blood thinner medication over time.
