Biography

Ralph J. Devito, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Urology and General Urology Chief at Yale Medicine. He specializes in treating problems related to the urinary system and the male reproductive system. Dr. Devito is board-certified in Urology by the American Board of Urology and has a particular interest in male infertility, stone disease, and urologic oncology. He treats patients in the adult and geriatric age groups.

Dr. Devito's clinical practice focuses on helping patients with issues like kidney infections, high blood pressure caused by kidney problems, and bladder infections. He also works with men who have prostate issues, such as high PSA levels, which can be a sign of prostate problems. Dr. Devito may use special tools and techniques, like tiny radioactive seeds or robotic assistance, to perform surgeries on the prostate. He can also place small markers to help guide treatment. Sometimes, he helps patients who have frequent or long-lasting urinary tract infections.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Devito is involved in research focusing on prostatic artery embolization, a treatment used to improve urinary symptoms in men with an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia). His research aims to better understand and improve this treatment option for men with prostate-related urinary problems. Dr. Devito is available for appointments at his office locations in New Haven, Hamden, Madison, and New Haven.
