Biography

Rachel Forman, MD, is a neurologist who specializes in treating stroke. She focuses on prevention, post-stroke blood pressure control, and community and youth education.

Dr. Forman says she was drawn to her specialty because she’s long been fascinated with the human brain. “It is so rewarding for me to educate local youth about stroke risk factors, warning signs, and healthy habits not only for themselves, but to be shared with their families and communities.,” she says.

She is actively involved in community and childhood stroke education, serving as the faculty advisor for the Yale Stamp Out Stroke program, which aims to educate the local community about stroke.

“It all comes back to educating people and I like to bring patients with me whenever we do events because their stories are so meaningful and go further than me talking about the importance of different things,” she says. “Plus, I value getting to know my patients and helping them come back from what is often the worst day of their life.”

An Assistant Professor of neurology at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Forman has been involved in several research initiatives, including a clinical trial that evaluates blood pressure treatment in patients with stroke. Dr. Forman completed her medical degree at Chicago Medical School. She pursued her neurology residency at Rush University Medical Center and completed a vascular neurology fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital.
