Angelo G Marino, DO
Biography
Angelo Marino, DO (doctor of osteopathic medicine), is an interventional radiologist who specializes in minimally invasive treatments guided by radiologic imaging.
Dr. Marino uses X-rays, ultrasounds, CT scans (computerized tomography), and MRIs (magnetic resonance imaging) to direct catheters and needles to administer precise treatments. Many complex conditions that would normally require more extensive surgeries can be treated via tiny incisions, providing patients with less pain, lower risks, and shorter recovery times compared to traditional open surgeries.
Dr. Marino’s research and clinical expertise is focused on treating vascular diseases including deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism (PE), varicose/spider veins, and vascular abnormalities.
In 2019, Dr. Marino was part of a team that performed Connecticut’s first minimally invasive procedure to create an AV fistula. Meant for kidney disease patients who will soon need dialysis, a fistula is a connection surgeons make between an artery and a vein to provide access for dialysis.
With the minimally invasive approach, a catheter device creates a non-surgical connection to the artery and vein. This means patients don’t require surgery or general anesthesia and leads to better outcomes and quality of life during dialysis.
