C4 Gene Dose Effects using 11C-UCB-J PET
- Study HIC#:2000022444
- Last Updated:01/01/0001
The primary investigational aim of this study is to determine whether increasing genetic dose of schizophrenia-associated risk alleles at the C4 gene are associated (negatively correlated) with regional synaptic density in the living human brain as measured by 11C-UCB-J PET.

Trial Purpose and Description
The primary investigational aim of this study is to determine whether increasing genetic dose of schizophrenia-associated risk alleles at the C4 gene are associated (negatively correlated) with regional synaptic density in the living human brain as measured by 11C-UCB-J PET.
Eligibility Criteria
1) This research study is designed to explore how genetics, specifically the schizophrenia risk gene complement component 4 (C4), influences synaptic density. This relationship will be explored in the brain’s prefrontal cortex, an area important in decision-making and impulsivity. In this study subjects will participate in one 11C-UCB-J Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scan and one structural and functional resting state Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan.
2) Eligibility criteria: 18-55 years old, Of non-Hispanic European American ancestry, physically healthy, no substance dependence, no significant medical or neurological illness. 3) Contact: Jessica Costeines, Jessica.costeines@yale.edu Study cell: (203) 903-7795; office phone (203) 974-7559
