Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA)

Definition

Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is a congenital heart condition in which the ductus arteriosus, a blood vessel that connects the pulmonary artery to the aorta, fails to close after birth. This results in abnormal blood flow between the two arteries, leading to increased workload on the heart and potential complications.
