Definition

Ebola, also known as Ebola virus disease (EVD), is a rare and often fatal illness caused by the Ebola virus. It is characterized by the sudden onset of fever, fatigue, muscle pain, headache, and sore throat, followed by vomiting, diarrhea, rash, and impaired kidney and liver function. In some cases, EVD causes internal and external bleeding.
