Tricuspid Valve Regurgitation
Definition
Tricuspid valve regurgitation is a condition affecting the tricuspid valve, which is responsible for regulating blood flow between the right atrium and right ventricle of the heart. The tricuspid valve does not close properly, causing blood to flow backward into the right atrium during ventricular contraction. This can lead to increased pressure in the right side of the heart and reduced efficiency in pumping blood to the lungs for oxygenation.
