Thyroid Nodule

Definition

A thyroid nodule is a growth or lump in the thyroid gland, which is located in the front of the neck. Thyroid nodules are common and can be benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous). Most thyroid nodules do not cause symptoms, but some may produce excess thyroid hormones, leading to hyperthyroidism, or cause difficulty swallowing or breathing.
