Percutaneous Balloon Valvuloplasty

Definition

Percutaneous balloon valvuloplasty is a minimally invasive medical procedure used to treat narrowed or stenotic heart valves. It involves the insertion of a catheter with a balloon attached into a blood vessel through the skin to reach the affected valve. The balloon is then inflated to widen the valve opening, improving blood flow and reducing the severity of the stenosis.
