Definition

Onychomycosis, also known as nail fungus, is a common fungal infection that affects the nails, causing them to become discolored, thickened, and brittle. The condition can affect both fingernails and toenails and may spread from one nail to another. It is caused by various types of fungi, including dermatophytes, yeasts, and non-dermatophyte molds.
