Definition

Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is a liver condition characterized by inflammation and accumulation of fat in the liver, which can lead to liver damage and scarring. NASH is a subtype of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and can progress to cirrhosis or liver failure if left untreated.
