Nephrectomy

Definition

Nephrectomy is a surgical procedure involving the removal of all or part of a kidney. It is performed to treat various kidney-related conditions, such as kidney cancer, severe kidney damage, or non-functioning kidneys. Depending on the extent of the surgery, a nephrectomy can be classified as a partial nephrectomy (removal of a portion of the kidney) or a radical nephrectomy (removal of the entire kidney).
