Nasal polyps are noncancerous, soft, painless growths that develop on the lining of the nasal passages or sinuses. They result from chronic inflammation and are associated with conditions such as allergies, asthma, and recurrent infections. Nasal polyps can cause nasal congestion, difficulty breathing, and reduced sense of smell.
