Long QT Syndrome (LQTS)
Definition
Long QT syndrome (LQTS) is a rare inherited or acquired heart condition characterized by an abnormality in the heart's electrical system, causing a prolonged QT interval on an electrocardiogram (ECG). This can lead to an increased risk of sudden and potentially life-threatening arrhythmias, such as torsades de pointes, which may result in fainting, seizures, or sudden cardiac death.
