Definition

Joint replacement surgery, also known as arthroplasty, is a medical procedure in which a damaged or diseased joint is replaced with an artificial joint, called a prosthesis. This surgery aims to relieve pain, improve function, and restore the joint's normal range of motion. Commonly replaced joints include the hip, knee, and shoulder.
