Definition

Hysterectomy is a surgical procedure in which all or part of a woman's uterus is removed. It may also involve the removal of other reproductive organs, such as the fallopian tubes, ovaries, or cervix. Hysterectomy is performed to treat various medical conditions, including uterine fibroids, endometriosis, abnormal uterine bleeding, and cancer.
