Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy

Definition

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a genetic condition characterized by the abnormal thickening of the heart muscle, particularly the ventricular walls. This thickening can obstruct blood flow and impair the heart's ability to pump blood effectively, potentially leading to arrhythmias, heart failure, or sudden cardiac death.
