Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is a medical treatment used to supplement the body with hormones that are no longer being produced or are produced in insufficient amounts. It is commonly used to alleviate symptoms of menopause in women, such as hot flashes, night sweats, and mood swings, by providing estrogen and progesterone. HRT can also be used for other hormone-related conditions or in transgender individuals undergoing gender-affirming hormone therapy.
