Colon Cancer

Definition

Colon cancer is a malignant condition characterized by the uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells in the lining of the large intestine (colon). It often begins as small, noncancerous (benign) clumps of cells called polyps that can, over time, develop into cancer. Early detection and removal of polyps can prevent the progression to colon cancer.
