Aortic Root Replacement

Definition

Aortic root replacement is a surgical procedure performed to fix a weakened spot (aneurysm) in the aortic root, which is the section of the aorta closest to the heart. It aims to prevent conditions such as an aneurysm rupture or dissection. The surgery involves removing the damaged portion of the aorta and replacing it with a synthetic graft, often including replacement of the aortic valve as well.
