Anticoagulation

Definition

Anti-glomerular basement membrane disease, also known as Anti-GBM disease, is a rare autoimmune condition characterized by the production of antibodies that destroy healthy tissue in the filtering units of the kidneys and, in some cases, the tiny air sacs in the lungs. This leads to inflammation and damage to these organs, resulting in kidney dysfunction and, potentially, pulmonary hemorrhage.
