Anterior Colporrhaphy, Anterior Repair, Cystocele Repair
Definition
Anterior colporrhaphy, also known as anterior repair or cystocele repair, is a surgical procedure to repair weakness in the vaginal wall to correct the bulging or prolapse of the bladder into the vagina. This condition, called cystocele, occurs when the supportive tissue between the bladder and vaginal wall weakens and stretches. The surgery involves tightening the muscles along the front of the vaginal wall with sutures to provide better support for the bladder and restore its normal position.
