Abducens nerve palsy, also known as sixth cranial nerve palsy or paresis, is a neurological condition characterized by weakness or paralysis of the sixth cranial nerve, which controls movement in the muscle (lateral rectus) on the outside of the eye, which turns the eye away from the nose. This can result in difficulty moving the affected eye outward and may cause double vision.
